Due to the rapid development of technology and information, a real and structural trend has emerged in the labor market.

The job market is changing with new technologies, and knowledge previously learned at university can now be learned practically through courses or even self-study.

Jobs without a college degree are on the rise, which according to Heach Human Resources Director Elcio Paulo Teixeira is a real and contemporary situation. The market now values the ability to create results, solve problems and learn quickly, which means that a degree is no longer necessary and has become a distinguishing feature.

"Technical skills, which are knowledge and experience, are taken for granted. But behavioral skills, which are the ability to learn, creative skills, and the ability to solve problems, anticipate problems, are valued by companies just as much, if not more," Teixeira said.

Eliana Machado, a management expert and CEO of Center RH, agrees with this view.According to him, in day-to-day employment, the diploma is not the main filter in many workers.

"The market is increasingly focused on competition, attitude and ability to deliver. There is room for those who know how to do it, even without a university," Machado stressed.

Caio Azevedo, a 23-year-old graphic designer, is one of those people who focuses on new markets and sees an opportunity to grow without the need for a high degree.Currently, Caio works for an advertising company and also works as a freelancer.

He said the opportunity arose in 2016, when he was 13 years old and his cousin invited him to work at an advertising agency. He was still in primary school and although he was young and inexperienced, he had a great desire to learn.

Caio said he got hooked on YouTube videos that taught him how to use the software he still uses today. He also emphasizes that the people of the company were essential for his learning.

The designer stated that despite the fact that he does not have a degree, this has never been an obstacle to getting space and clients.

I believe that university knowledge is very important in shaping a person's career, it cannot be denied. But, from my own experience, in the places I have worked and also for my clients, experience in advertising and strategies counts more when choosing between a professional with a degree or not.

Luiz Eugênio Guisso, who is 26 years old, made a name for himself despite not having a college degree. He started working part-time at a publishing company in 2014, at the age of 15. From then on, he began to learn a lot from the owner of the company, who was a friend of his.

He worked in the printing company until 2020, when he took a job in a cosmetics company.Luiz only completed basic training in modeling and 3D, but never delved deeply into the courses.

Most of what I learned came from practice. It came from what my first boss taught me, and mostly out of curiosity. In my free time, I spent my free time exploring, testing, making mistakes, learning, and improving programs.I turned to YouTube, Reddit, and other forums to solve more complex problems.

Salaries and stability

Although they can make good money in such jobs, the CEO of Heach Human Resources said that incomes vary, but with expertise and reputation, salaries will continue to increase over traditional careers.

As for stability, Teixeira said a lot will depend on individual performance.

"Security does not come from the job, but from the work of that person, that is, from the ability to continue to work effectively, renew and affect the economy in the long term."

Despite the fact that these are jobs that do not require a college degree, according to Teixeira there are skills that are more valued for performing the functions. These are: continuous learning;discipline;analytical ability;autonomy;practical thinking;technical domain;clear communication;responsibility with deadlines and results;emotional intelligence;know how to deal with pressure and constant changes.

Furthermore, the CEO stressed that even without a university degree, there is rigorous technical training and professional courses to produce complementary and consistent knowledge.

The market has already experienced, or is getting used to, accepting the lack of a diploma, but does not accept amateurs who do not deliver.I think this is the most important thing. It is focused on delivery capacity and qualitative delivery.

Elcio Paulo Teixeira, מנכ"ל Heach

According to Eliana Machado, some profiles and behaviors are very important in the selection process, such as: responsibility, communication, discipline, emotional intelligence, ability to work in a team and willingness to learn.Furthermore, she emphasizes the importance of technical and professional courses and rapid training.

"The big mistake many professionals make is waiting for universities to finish everything. The market wants people who are qualified, responsible, ready to learn continuously," he stressed.
